Bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum

  • Low-growing, creeping grass used primarily for forage, orchards, and erosion control. Valued for its dense cover.
  • Tolerant of shade, salt, low pH, and drought.

Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon)

  • Used primarily for lawn grass, forage, and erosion control.
  • Fairly tolerant of salt, very tolerant of drought, and wear/high levels of foot traffic. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil.

Bermudagrass, Maya (Cynodon dactylon) 

  • High-quality, dense turf with a medium-fine leaf texture and medium-dark green color.
  • Tolerant of heat, drought, wear/high levels of foot traffic, and low mowing height. Fairly salt tolerant. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil.

Carpetgrass (Axonopus fissifolius)

  • Low-maintenance, narrow-leaf variety used for weed control, dense mat formation for erosion control, and in orchards.
  • Fairly tolerant of shade, tolerant of low pH, low fertility, and sandy soil.

Centipede (Ermochola ophiuroides)

  • Low-maintenance, slow-growing turf grass that produces a dense mat.
  • Tolerant of low fertility, low pH, and moderate traffic. Prefers moist, heavy, acidic soil.

Kikuyugrass (Pennisetum clandestinum)

  • One of Hawaii’s most important pasture and range grasses. Durable turf with deep root system for erosion control. Grows well from sea level to 6,000 feet of elevation. High protein content for grazing.
  • Tolerant of salt and drought.

Ryegrass, Annual (Lolium multiflorum)

  • Quick-growing pasture grass that is excellent for increasing organic matter, improving soil structure, and providing erosion control. Very good production, nutritional quality, and palatability for grazing.
  • Fairly tolerant of heat and drought.

Ryegrass, Perennial Turf Type (Lolium perenne): By special order

  • Quick-germinating, fine-textured grass.
  • Exceptional traffic tolerance.

Seashore paspalum (Paspalum vaginatum): By special order

  • Quick-growing, fine-textured, dense turf with deep roots for erosion control and wetland restoration.
  • Highly tolerant of various environmental stressors, including wide pH ranges, and soil that is waterlogged or sandy; the most salt-tolerant of all grasses. Exceptionally tolerant of wear/high levels of foot traffic.

Zoysiagrass, Zenith (Zoysia japonica) 

  • Low-maintenance, slow-growing, medium-textured, dark green, dense turf grass.
  • Tolerant of drought and wear/foot traffic. One of the most shade-tolerant warm-season grasses, and also grows well in sun. Prefers well-drained soil.
